  FUNDING POLICY
 
   
Funding Policy  
  The Helping Hand Foundation's intent is to dedicate itself and focus to specific areas as set forth below. Our gift, contribution and grant recipients will be in the greater metro Kansas City area. In all areas of giving, special emphasis will be given to the under-served segment of these needs. This would include circumstances of providing support directly to needy persons who fail for one reason or another to qualify for governmental assistance, or public or private charity assistance, based upon conditions of support such as household income levels, lack of funds to distribute, or failing to meet other conditions precedent to qualifying for assistance; and/or other charitable organizations benefiting needs meeting our requirements.  
   
Any gifts, contributions or grants given to individuals in need would be subject to the following general guidelines:  
1. Application recommended by individual's or family's advocate  
2. Demonstration of need and clearly defined objectives  
3. Evidence of strong fiscal management  
4. Efficient and effective delivery of services  
5. Appropriate skills, values and/or knowledge by recipient, and  
6. Probability of a successful transition or outcome
Funding Focus Area  
 
While the Helping Hand Foundation understands there are needs in all areas of the country, our primary focus is the Greater Kansas City Metro area, which includes the following fifteen (15) counties:  
In Kansas: Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami, Ray, Wyandotte  
In Missouri: Bates, Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Lafayette, Platte  
Whom we do not fund  
  While the Helping Hand Foundation appreciates and honors the efforts of the following kinds of groups, we generally do not fund:  
Large or national non-profit organizations  
Medical, scientific, academic, or other kinds of research efforts not in alignment with our  
  funding priorities
Organizations needing to do public relations, endowments, or other reserve funds  
Non-profits that run nursing homes  
The advancement of religion or organizations associated with religious educational outlets  
  not in alignment with our funding priorities
Hospitals and health organizations  
Capital campaigns and other efforts for bricks and mortar  
Efforts that produce video, or support acquisition of technology or access to technology such  
as web sites
Annual membership or affiliation campaigns  
Debt retirement or operating deficits  
Organizations relying on government funding for more than 65% of annual operating revenue  
Organizations that further political doctrine  
General operating costs  
Credit Card debt assistance
